Letters Garden - Privacy Policy

Beta (TestFlight and Google Play) · Last updated: October 4, 2026

Letters Garden teaches Hebrew letters to children aged 2–6. The beta goes to a small circle of families so we can learn how children play and improve the game.

Everything about the child stays on the device. With a parent's consent, the app sends one anonymous summary a day - no name, no voice, no photos, no location.

Stored on the device only

The child's first name, age, chosen character, learning progress, garden, parent settings, and an on-device play journal. None of it leaves the device; "Delete all data" in the parent area erases it.

Sent, only with a parent's consent

Consent is given by the parent at setup and is the condition of taking part in the beta. A daily summary, updated now and then through the day, is sent only when the app opens or closes - never during play: a random per-child identifier generated on the device (not derived from the name, the device or any account); age group and the calendar date played; minutes played and games started, finished or left part-way; per letter and per round type, how often it was asked, answered on the first try, or helped with a hint (the letters of the child's name are masked); where each letter stands now - met, practising or known (for the letters of the name, only how many are at each stage); short technical fault details; the app version; and, if the daily reminder is on, which of two fixed hours this device was assigned at random and how many times that day the game was opened from a reminder. Parent feedback written in the parent area is sent with the age groups and number of children on the device.

Daily reminder

A parent can turn on a daily reminder in the parent area. It is off until the parent turns it on, and only then does the phone ask for permission to show notifications. The reminder is scheduled on the phone itself, with no server and no push identifier, and is skipped on a day the child already played.

Never sent

The child's name or its letters, voice or recordings (the app does not use the microphone), photos or camera, location, contacts, or device and advertising identifiers.

The join page

On the join page (otiyot.co.il) we count one visit per browsing session and each tap on the install button, together with the link's source (for example, the kindergarten that shared it) and the kind of device the page showed (iPhone, Android or computer). Nothing else: no IP address, no cookies, no identifier and no third-party tools. The link's source is kept in your browser so the count stays right if you come back later.

The form for kindergarten and education staff

Kindergarten teachers and other education staff who fill in the site's form send us a name, role, the kindergarten or school's name, town, number of children, a phone or email, and anything they chose to write. It is used only to reply and to make their link, shared with no one, and deleted on request (tal@soffer.co). It is the only place a contact detail is collected, and it belongs to a staff member who chose to write to us, never to a child or a family.

Who receives it

Summaries and feedback are stored on our own server (hosted by Netlify), accessible only to the team behind a password. Our server does not store IP addresses or anything from the request beyond the fields above; the hosting provider processes requests technically under its own policy. There are no ads, no purchases, and no third-party SDKs for analytics, tracking or advertising. We never sell or share the data.

Retention and deletion

Summaries are kept for the duration of the beta, to improve the game, and deleted when it ends. Because they are anonymous we cannot tell which records are yours; "Delete all data" in the parent area erases everything on the device and the child receives a new random identifier. Questions and requests: "Feedback to the team" in the parent area.

Changes

If what is sent, or how it is described, changes, the app shows the consent screen again and sends nothing until the parent agrees to the new wording.
